Cavilon™ – No Sting Barrier Film

Cavilon™ spray, specifically the “No Sting Barrier Film,” is a medical product used to create a protective, transparent, and breathable barrier on the skin. Its primary uses are to protect skin from a variety of irritants and damage.

The main applications of Cavilon™ spray include:

• Protecting against bodily fluids: It is frequently used to prevent skin breakdown caused by incontinence (urine and feces), wound drainage, and other bodily fluids.
• Preventing medical adhesive-related skin injury (MARSI): The spray creates a barrier between the skin and medical adhesives (like tapes, dressings, and ostomy barriers), making it easier to remove them without causing skin damage. It is often used around IV sites and under dressings.
• Reducing friction and shear: By creating a smooth surface, it can help prevent skin damage caused by friction, which is a key factor in the development of pressure ulcers and intertriginous dermatitis (skin damage in folds).
• Protecting damaged or “at-risk” skin: Because it is alcohol-free and does not sting, it can be safely applied to intact, damaged, or broken skin to prevent further deterioration.

Cavilon spray is non-cytotoxic, hypoallergenic, and can provide protection for up to 72 hours. It works by forming a durable film on the skin’s surface that repels irritants while allowing the skin to breathe.
